Do I need to wash my wig?
Yes, but not as often as you may think. Only wash if you have excess product build up from hairspray/ oil/ make-up on the lace.
Usually once a month is plenty.

What products are best to use on my wig?
I would always recommend using salon quality products to care for your wig. Check out my recommended products here.
What brushes are best to use on my wig?
Soft bristle brushes or wide tooth combs are best for brushing your hairpiece. When brushing/combing your wig, start from the ends of the hair first and move gradually upwards towards roots.

How do I store my wig?
Be gentle with your wig and mindful of how you store it. There are plenty of wig stands/ block heads available online which are great for storing and handy for when you're styling at home too.
If you haven't got a stand, not to worry. You can store it in the satin bag provided. Just be sure to brush it thoroughly before, to keep it from tangling.
Will the colour on my wig fade?
All of my hairpieces are custom coloured using professional products. As with any hair that is chemically treated, it will begin to fade and dull slightly over time.
The use of shampoos and conditioners with colour protect properties will help your colour last longer. Avoid using hot water when washing your wig, always opt for lukewarm/ cold water.
Ensure you use a heat protector when heat styling, and don't exceed 180° on heated stylers. Try to avoid over heat styling, as this will dry the hair and dull the colour.
Can I sleep in my wig?
Avoid sleeping in your hairpiece where possible. It will cut the lifespan by at least half.
Do I need to put makeup on a lace top wig?
You don't have to, but many people like to. Your makeup matches your skin, so it helps to create a seamless transition from skin to lace. Opt for powdered products over liquid products. If applying on the lace, be very delicate, don't rub the lace or knots as this will cause excess shedding.
Can I change the parting on my wig?
Yes, you can change the parting to anywhere within the lace area.
An easy way to change the parting is to spritz the roots with water, re-part, and blow-dry into place. Always ensure you use a heat protector beforehand.
Do you have other general tips?
My top tips for caring for your human hair wig are -
1. Gentle Handling: Treat your wig with care. Avoid excessive tugging, pulling, or brushing. Handle the wig gently to prevent excess shedding. Be especially careful around the lace edge, as this is extremely delicate.
2. Washing: Use a sulfate-free and colour-safe shampoo and conditioner designed for coloured hair. Gently lather the products and rinse with cool or lukewarm water. Avoid hot water, as it can strip the colour and damage the hair.
3. Comb or Brush Carefully: Use a wide-toothed comb or a soft bristle brush. Start from the tips and work your way up to the roots, detangling any knots gently to avoid breakage.
4. Colour-Safe Products: Use hair care products, such as leave-in conditioners and serums. These products can help maintain the colour and provide extra protection.
5. Avoid Heat Styling: Minimise the use of heat styling tools, as excessive heat can fade the colour and weaken /dry the hair. If heat styling is necessary, use a heat protectant spray and low heat settings.
6. Sun Protection: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause the colour to fade. When wearing your wig outdoors, consider using a wide-brimmed hat or a headscarf to protect it from UV rays.
7. Avoid Chlorine and Saltwater: If you plan to swim while wearing your wig, consider wearing a swim cap to protect it from chlorinated or saltwater, both of which can be damaging to coloured hair.
8. Store Properly: When not in use, store your wig in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Use a wig stand or a mannequin head to help maintain its shape and prevent tangling.
